Collaboration with Ron Cooper.

Ron used to live across the street from the Wholefoods building, with Filene's Basement in it, DSW, Forever 21. Balcony and what's outside? Meat trucks, an enormous blank wall. Massive. Canvas, we thought.

Notebooks, we each began to fill one up with random ideas. Lots of coffee meetings. Not always smooth but both brains churning, trying to grasp what we were trying to do. Basically there was this opportunity, and it couldn't last (he has moved, I think we both felt that coming), but if you want to create something, and you want to show it to people, which is one way of looking at art...

We were all over the place yet everything had integrity - making something together, focussing specifically on this wall, this consumption-centric environment, these people in this neighborhood...

Eventually I went to Montreal to try to get some perspective. And good friend Paul Robinson came to visit, gave editing input, we wanted to show him something before he left. What you see are the dreams of a neon sign figure trapped in that ethereal two-dimensionality and light existence, vaguely wanting to participate in the fantasies of those shopping humans down below...
