a conflux city featured project
individually uniqe, invariably eye-catching, and always unpredictable, traffic cones are almost art. like paintings, their primary function is to be looked at. i've been treating traffic cones as aesthetic phenomena for about fifteen years, and i'd love to share some of the fundamental principles and methods of traffic cone appreciation with you.

you are invited to join me in a traffic cone viewing tour. traffic cone viewing is as valid and rewarding an aesthetic experience as visiting an art museum. every traffic cone is unique, and even after a decade of living here, i am continually surprised by the myriad ways in which traffic cones are displayed in new york city.

i can't guarantee we'll encounter a ton of traffic cones - they get moved around all the time. but i will scout the day before, and again early that morning, and hopefully we'll see some good ones. what i can promise is that i will answer any traffic cone or art related question you may have, and that there is no way to predict what we will observe. hope to see you on the 20th!

in addition to my ongoing cone work, i integrate traditional media with technology to create dynamic installations, or "paintings that move." my primary goal in all of my work is to expand our experience of painting.
